Looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for the mom in your life? Let’s start with a story. A few weeks ago, my husband brought me a breakfast biscuit, and I started sobbing.
It had been a really hard week, and I wasn’t looking forward to the day ahead. I start getting ready with a quiet house in the background, thinking James has already arrived at work. But instead I hear a key in the door, and in he walks with a bag from our favorite breakfast place. And then the waterworks start, before I even realize it.
It meant so much to me that he would go completely out of his way, in a day I’m sure was busy enough already, to do something to lift my spirits. And honestly? It was just nice to be the one taken care of. Even if it was as simple as a biscuit for breakfast.
This holiday, I’m giving you permission to keep it simple. I know, right? You were expecting maybe some over-the-top expensive but totally stunning gift idea? No, let’s make it easy on you.
Because here’s the thing. Roses are great, but they’re also one more thing to take care of. Chocolates are tasty, but chances are, she already has a stash of her own. (Shhh! Don’t say I told you.) Wine is – well, wine is always welcome.
Anyway, the best gift you can give the mom in your life? Do something to take care of her. Because she is usually the one taking care of everyone else. Cook for her or bring her food, provide her with some time to herself, knock out some of her to-do list so she doesn’t have to, give her some extra pampering so she can feel her best.
And while we’re on the topic of pampering – let me help you out this holiday! I can put together the perfect set of non-toxic goodies to make her skin glowing and happy. Combine with time to herself so that she can use them and make your bathroom her own personal spa. And then feel free to take all of the credit, my friend. (Send me an email if you want some help!)
What’s your Valentine’s Day plan this year?
