Time for another mom style basics post! If you don’t already know, I’m constantly trying to curate a good wardrobe. Which is tricky, because historically moms don’t have a reputation for being super stylish. (Even though “mom jeans” are back, so…)
I believe you don’t have to sacrifice style and confidence for comfort and practicality. And you don’t have to have an endless budget or a huge walk-in closet. (We can dream, though.) You just have to find the right pieces you can mix and match, and that fit your lifestyle and your fashion sense.
So today, I’m sharing the ever-versatile shirt dress. These things are simply MVPs for moms on the go. They’re a chic, classic, one-step clothing option that you can layer and style for different occasions. Most have adjustable waists and many come in soft fabric. And I’m saying all this as a former “jeans and t-shirts only” kind of girl. Now dresses are more my go-tos.
I was thrilled to snag this Brass Clothing dress (not available online, but I’m linking some good ones below) from Poshmark. (I’d love for you to download the app and use my user name @jennks1 to sign up!) Brass makes some excellent staple dresses, and this is my first one. The fabric is soft, and waist is adjustable, and the color is perfect. It’s going to get a lot of use this fall. I love the collar-less look, but I will say it runs a bit short, depending on where the waist falls on you, so this one might be just with leggings for me.
Also, that cute bag there? It’s the Karolina from A.V.I. Collection, but I received it via Ivory Clasp, a subscription service for handbags. (They sent it complimentary for review.) You can check out my previous two posts on Ivory Clasp (see one and two) for a more thorough review. But in a nutshell, the customer service is excellent, the bags are quality, and satisfaction is guaranteed – if you don’t like your bag, send it back and get a new one or your money back.
Finally, I’ve linked some shirt dresses below (affiliate links), in case you’re on the hunt. Do you own a shirt dress? Is it a style you like?
