This Thanksgiving season brings lots of traditions. For example, we always watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade live from New York. We love to watch Planes Trains and Automobiles, too. I’m not trying to brag, but my mom makes the most amazing stuffed mushrooms (among other things) that my brother and I fight over every year. We also usually play some sort of board game. And my hubby’s mom makes a delicious turkey pot pie with leftovers the very next day.
Typically traveling home is part of our tradition. This year, however, with a little one coming any day, we’re lucky to have family coming to us. While my mom is taking care of lots of the cooking (woohoo!), our job is making our house ready to host everyone.
Sometimes I can manage to stretch out tasks throughout the week to get the house ready. But often I end up scrambling to get everything done at the last minute, mostly because I forget things!
This year, I’m doing what my husband suggests, and writing all the tasks down. And even better – I’m sharing it with all of you! Here’s a printable checklist so that you, too, can get your home holiday hospitality ready. There are different areas, some of which won’t apply. (Like the guest room, if you’re not hosting people for the night.) And since every house has different needs, there are lots of blank spaces to add your own tasks.
I’m getting some help from Febreze to make this post happen. All year round, they have great products to keep your house fresh. But you might notice that the holidays tend to be the stinkiest! A full house, leftovers, trash piling up. Fortunately this time of the year, Febreze has special scents for the season – Fresh Cut Pine and Fresh Twist Cranberry.
Every room can use a little Febreze. Use fabric refresher on clothes or stockings that have been stored all year; keep a bottle in the bathroom for the endless rotation of guests; and set up candles in the kitchen after the cooking is through.
And to celebrate even more, they’ve put together this fun video with Doug E. Fresh (coincidence?) and Doug the Pug. Enjoy the 12 Stinks of Christmas!
So what are you doing for the holidays? Are you having anyone over?
