It’s Father’s Day weekend. This year my hubby is getting a t-shirt with the Superman logo, because for real. This guy gets to be more of a superhero every year.
Just yesterday he came home from work during lunch, let me sleep because I was feeling sick, and not only took care of, but fed the kids and got them ready for a rest time. Holy cow.
He works all day and still has the energy to play with the kids and go through the bedtime routine with them. He (almost) never hesitates when it comes to caring for them. (But then again no one readily volunteers to change dirty diapers in this house.) Even though he works hard all day, his concern when he gets home is letting me recuperate.
He takes us on adventures over the weekend, whether it’s a drive, splashing in the creek, or getting ice cream. He doesn’t just push a swing or follow around our littles on the playground – he plays right along with them, and gets genuine joy from their delight.
Basically, he’s an absolute winner, and we’re so lucky to have him.
And of course, Happy Father’s Day to my dad as well! He loves to make us laugh, and prioritizes family time. He made sure I was educated properly in classic rock, and patiently worked through problems with me, whether they involved math or life. Love you lots, Dad.
In honor of Father’s Day, here are some of my favorite movie quotes about dads:
